Join the Crew Behind Our Sailing Bursaries
In the summer of 2026, Classic Sailing became a Community Interest Company. For the last 30 years we have worked hard to bring traditional sailing to as wide an audience as possible, and this is the next chapter in that mission.
There will be plenty of projects, outreach, campaigns and industry support in our next chapter, but the main thrust of it is this… we have set up a Bursary Fund, to which disadvantaged individuals or groups can apply for financial assistance towards traditional sailing experiences.
Anyone who is generous enough to support this Bursary Fund on a regular basis by making a monthly donation will become part of our Classic Sailing Community Crew. Whatever the size of your donation, whether it’s £1 or £100, you will be an equally valued member of the Crew.

Why Join the Community Crew?
Joining the Community Crew shows that you understand the value and impact traditional sailing can have on people’s lives, and how much of a difference it can make to people from all backgrounds.
Regular Updates
As part of the Community Crew, you’ll receive exclusive updates about our work as a CIC, including case studies and stories from people we’ve been able to help thanks to your generous support.
Genuine Involvement in the Community
At various points throughout the year we will ask for volunteers from the Community Crew to join our Bursary Awards Panel. If you want to get involved, you can have a real say in where the Bursary funds are spent.
We will also treat our Community Crew as a focus group to help guide the direction that Classic Sailing CIC is taking, asking for your opinions on various projects, decisions and policies. Again this is on a purely voluntary basis, there is no pressure to get involved, but if you do, you can have a serious impact on how we grow and evolve.
Traditional sailing always relies on teamwork, and we would love for you to be a part of our team.

A Small Bonus Gesture
As a small token of our appreciation, as a member of the Community Crew you will also receive our weekly newsletter a day early, giving you the jump on special offers, new voyage announcements and useful info.
How to Get Involved?
1. Donate Once: Every donation counts and will help a disadvantaged person get out on the water.
2.Donate Regularly: Set up a recurring monthly donation, of whatever size, and you’ll become a member of our Community Crew. Pick from one of our suggested amounts below, or choose your own from £1 per month.
You’ll receive our newsletter with news about our work, invitations to special events, and opportunities to get involved and help shape our Community. If you’re not currently subscribed to our newsletter, starting or restarting a regular donation will subscribe you. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time without affecting your Community Crew membership or recurring donation.
