Announcing New Voyages

April Sailing – Fresh New Season

The early bird catches the discount

Ever eager to tempt you out at the beginning of the season, boats occasionally discount or offer affordable tasters at the start of the season. Easter can be gorgeous or you could have snow on deck, but the vessels look amazing after a winter refit and skippers cant wait to get out of the boatyard to empty anchorages.

Brixham Sailing Trawler Pilgrim is the queen of the taster voyage. You can step onto the boat from a pontoon and she has big, wide decks and high sides. Built for hauling a trawl under sail Pilgrim is a very powerful vessel that simply shrugs off the waves. You can try a day sail, overnight experience, 2 day and 3 day tasters early season. Tallulah in Cornwall loves a themed voyage as the weather warms up. Yoga, beach cleans, and lots of rowing ashore in her 15ft wooden dinghy.

Training, RYA Courses and Intensive Sail Handling

Early season, the trick is to stay active, do lots of short hops with intensive learning experiences, and have a cosy cabin to de brief an exercise or learn a bit of relevant theory. Tallulah is our RYA teaching boat based in Cornwall, starting the season early and offering some winter workshops and RYA courses afloat. She has a stove heater and radiators

Crossing the Equator into the Northern Hemisphere

The ocean going sailing ships that often sail all year round like Tecla and Oosterschelde will likely be swapping hemispheres around about April time to stay forever in summer. Grayhound is exploring the Azores archipelago on the way home to Europe.

Staging posts like the Azores, St Helena are often explored as vessels head back to a European summer.

Springtime in the Mediterranean

Santa Maria Manuela is based in Portugal, The Azores, Madeira and Canaries are her home sailing ground but she also dips into the Mediterranean in Springtime to early summer. Morgenster and Tenacious are occasional Mediterranean visitors, depending on their program each year. Mallorca, Minorca, Ibiza, Sardinia, Corsica and Malta all have a proud maritime history and great historic waterfronts where a tall ship would be centre of attention. Its a great way to meet the locals without feeling like a tourist.
