Sailing Holiday Planner

A sailing holiday takes some planning. We make it easy. Our free Sailing Holiday Planner brings your voyage details, berths and costs, travel, insurance and kit list into one private place, with a voyage planning checklist built from nearly 30 years of helping people join traditional ships.

Start your free planner

Plan your sailing holiday in one place

Type in your Classic Sailing voyage number and the planner fills in the dates, joining port, berth prices and the ship’s own kit list. Then work through the checklist at your own pace, ticking items off and adding notes as you go. You can keep several plans, for voyages you are researching or have already booked, and use it for other trips too.

Private to you

Nothing you enter is sent to Classic Sailing, so we cannot see your plans and never use them for marketing. The planner is in Beta: your plans are saved in your own web browser, so download or print a copy to keep. The Alpha version will add sign in, encryption and use on any device.

Guest crew on a tall ship helped by Classic Sailing sailing holiday planner checklist. Now on board and learning the ropes

A taster: tall ship packing list

  • A soft bag, not a hard suitcase (it stows on board)
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Trainers are fine on deck
  • Warm layers, even in summer
  • Head torch with a red light for night watches, for overnight sailing voyages
  • Sun cream, sun hat and sunglasses with a strap. The sun can be a problem in all climates.

The full list, with your ship’s own kit list and space for your own items, is in the planner.

Prepare for your tall ship voyage

No sailing experience is needed on most of our voyages. The crew teach you as you go, and the planner covers the practical side: getting to your joining port, insurance and payments. New to it all? Start with Learn to sail, no experience needed and My first voyage.
