Wildlife way out west – puffins, shearwaters, gannets and seals

Whilst Tallulah’s regular skipper Debbie is competing in the World Gig Rowing Championships in the Isles of Scilly, Tallulah is off to play with one of our skippers and a guest crew which could be YOU.

We have created a longer voyage in April/May 2025 for those intermediate or advanced sailors that want the sense of achievement that comes with longer passages and perhaps a bit of night sailing.

Tallulah’s home port of St Mawes is slap bang in the middle of a great cruising ground, and with the Atlantic not far away there can be big swell and fast sailing off the coast if you chose, as well as headlands and estuaries to shelter in.

Equally in light winds there are some great remote places to anchor overnight on the more open coast and beaches, or sail into iconic Cornish and Devon ports and make a scene with our beautiful cutter.

If the weather is suitable Tallulah might even make a dash for the Isles of Scilly, where over 150 gig boats are racing from Friday to Sunday. Its an awesome sight and there is room in St Marys Roads to sail and watch the racing.

max 6 guests. Solo travellers welcome.

Ideal voyage for:

Keen sailors who want a taste of offshore passagemaking, romantics that like remote anchorages. Photographers, artists and wildlife enthusiasts will love this time of year with seabirds coming ashore to breed and seals and dolphins enjoying the empty anchorages.

Highlights:

  • 6 night voyage over 7 days
  • Coastal passage making with a hint of open ocean
  • If we cant go west to Scilly or Mounts Bay, we sail east along rugged Cornwall & Devon coast
  • April – May is peak season for seabirds breeding including puffins
  • spacious wooden pilot cutter with max 6 guests
  • skipper has good marine wildlife knowledge
  • ideal mile building or watch leader experience
