Voyage Description

Setting Sail from Bounty HQ

You’ll meet your skipper and the boat at Bounty HQ, right on the South West Coast Path on the Mount Batten peninsula. This is one of the gateways to the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, a haven for wildlife, heritage and water sports. There’s plenty of parking here, plus easy public transport connections (the number 2 bus links you directly with Plymouth train station, or you can hop on the foot ferry from the Barbican).

The skipper will give you a short safety briefing and discuss the itinerary. With three days and two nights to play with, the exact plan will depend on the conditions. Soon it’s time to cast off lines and set out into Plymouth Sound.

Along the Way

You’ll be invited to get as hands-on as you like, taking the helm, trimming the sails or simply enjoying the views! Bounty’s End will pass some of the Sound’s most iconic locations, including Drake’s Island, Mount Edgcumbe, Royal William Yard, Kingsand and Cawsand. Depending on the conditions an anchorage will be chosen for a swim or shoreside exploration.

Dinner the Wild Way & an Evening by Campfire

Bounty’s End has fishing gear on board, and you’ll have the chance to try fishing from the boat, learning how to prepare your catch and cook it over an open fire (don’t worry, there is always a plan B for dinner in case nobody catches anything!).

As long as conditions allow, the first night will be spent at Mount Edgcumbe National Park. As the sun lowers, the boat heads for shore and you’ll set up a wild camp. You’ll be introduced to essential camp-craft and simple survival skills: how to choose a campsite, build shelter and live comfortably outdoors.

Expect a relaxed evening around the fire… shared stories, fresh air and views across the water as Plymouth lights up in the distance.

Sunrise & back on the Water

You and the rest of the Bounty crew will wake early to watch the sunrise spill across the Sound- one of the best moments of the trip! After a fire-cooked breakfast, you’ll break camp and step back aboard.

There are some lovely options for your second night… including sailing up the Tamar to Calstock or even Morwellam Quay, making the most of the tide’s help to get you upriver…and back again in the morning.

On your final morning there’ll be time for some more great sailing as you head back towards Mount Batten. We’re pretty sure you’ll be stepping off Bounty’s End with a renewed spring in your step!

Start & End Port

Papeete, Tahiti

Papeete is the capital of French Polynesia, and a fantastic base from which to explore the paradise of Tahiti. Black and white sand beaches, a fascinating local pearl industry (including black pearls!), great food, stunning tropical scenery and a vibrant night life. Well worth spending a few days here!

St Mawes, Cornwall

This is the home port of Classic Sailing. A seafaring village on the East side of Falmouth Harbour, St Mawes is about as picturesque as it gets (but we would say that!).

Review

What a privilege to be able to sail on such a boat.
Val

What a fascinating and active trip. Conrad literally shows you the ropes and then helps you get stuck in whilst telling tales of the Bounty, Bligh and his own adventures. Well worth it!
Josh

What a great weekend! Truly memorable and one we'll all talk about over beers for a long time to come. Sailing on Bounty's End was a real highlight for me. She's such a unique boat to sail and you can feel her long voyage in her woodwork.
James

Wonderful from start to finish!
Sue

Such a special experience. A beautiful way to see Plymouth and an incredible glimpse of Captain Bligh and his men's survival at sea. Conrad was great company and his stories make you see adventure on a whole new level. Don't miss this!
