Just Launched: Mascotte’s Summer Schedule for 2023

1904 Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter Mascotte has just announced their sailing schedule for next summer, and it’s looking lovely. Focusing on Cornwall and the South West, she has a mixture of ‘Explorer’ voyages where the itinerary is kept loose in order to maximise fantastic sailing, as well as attendances at some of the biggest events of the maritime calendar. These include Paimpol shanty festival and the start of the 2023 Tall Ships Race.

All 2023 Festivals

South West Explorer Voyages

Starting from Falmouth, these trips are a fantastic way to get to know Cornwall from the water. Depending on the latest forecast, you might strike out for the Scilly Isles, or even cross the Channel to Brittany, or explore up some of Cornwall’s idyllic tree-lined rivers and beautiful estuaries. Wherever you end up, you can expect a healthy dose of cracking sailing, as well as all the usual Mascotte fun: wild swimming, fishing underway, beach barbeques, starlit night sailing, wildlife spotting, great food and exploring in the lovely lug-rigged sailing punt… sounds pretty good to us!

There are five of these voyages through the summer, so chances are good of finding dates that work for you.

Breton Adventure including Paimpol Shanty Festival

Fantastic sailing across the channel and along the beautiful coast of Brittany, with a host of other traditional ships as they gather for the passage upriver to the biannual Paimpol Chant du Marin music festival. This event is a real favourite among sailors and music lovers alike, and the air of camaraderie and excitement is infectious. Crowds of people gather to watch the flotilla sail up river to the tidal harbour, before the ships nestle in, rafted one to another, for a weekend of dancing, singing, boat-spotting and fun.

And what a boat to sail there on…built in 1904, Mascotte is no pretender. She was the largest Bristol Channel pilot cutter ever built and takes a romp across the Channel to Brittany in her stride.

Falmouth to Paimpol and back to Falmouth Monday 31 July to Wednesday 9 August, from £1485 Voyage Details

The Tall Ships come to Falmouth

Sailing Among the Tall Ships

Set sail from Falmouth aboard 1904 pilot cutter Mascotte and explore the local coastline by sail while learning the ropes. You’ll stay fairly close to Falmouth during this adventure, and over the course of the week the excitement will rise as more and more vessels arrive for the start of the Tall Ships Race.

Some of the world’s largest and most impressive tall ships will be descending on Falmouth, and Mascotte will be nipping out to greet some of them as they sail in. This will be rather like old times, when she would have been working delivering pilots to guide ships into port.

As well as the usual fantastic sailing and great food, this Mascotte voyage also provides the best seats in the house to watch the Tall Ships parade of sail and departure for the first leg of the race. A sight not to be missed!

Falmouth, Tall Ships, Falmouth Monday 14 to Saturday 19 August, from £825 Voyage Details

Private Charter…

Mascotte is a perfect boat for private charter, for a group of family or friends, up to 7 people in total. If any of her trips appeal as a group holiday, now’s the time to get in touch, as whole boat bookings are only possible if no individual bookings have already been made. You can also receive a nice discount when you take the whole thing compared to individual bunk prices.

If none of the trips listed fit in with your gang’s holiday timing, don’t panic! Mascotte’s crew have structured their season so that there’s still space to respond to private charter requests, so do get in touch and we’ll help you create your perfect sailing holiday, be it a long weekend or a 7 day adventure.
