Easter Island, South Pacific

Easter Island for Ancient Civilisations

Easter Island sits in the Middle of the South Pacific, thousands of miles from anywhere. Unlike the Galapagos, there are no permit restrictions so sailing around the islands once you arrive is quite possible, but very weather dependant. Like Tristan da Cuhna in the South Atlantic, it is volcanic, rising steeply from the deep, so anchorages can be affected by swell and will always require vigilance, and you many need to move around for the best shelter. The rewards ashore are great, so apart from your time exploring the island from your floating base on Tecla, you might want to treat yourself to a few days ashore before flying home or starting your voyage to the Falklands.

The town ship of Hanga Roa has most of the islands restaurants, hotels, bars and is very close to the airport. Hanga Roa has the main harbour and this is where you will join Tecla.

Please make sure you make a note of the ship’s number found in your confirmation email in case of any problems on the day of embarking.
