Sailing with friend

Traditional sailing holidays made easier together

It can be a lot of fun sailing with a friend. If you are both interested in traditional sailing, it makes sense to plan something together. Whether you are experienced sailors or simply curious about life on board a working vessel, many of our voyages are ideal for two friends travelling together.

Two people, one idea that needs clarification

It could be that both of you are keen but to different levels so it may help to go through the details together. Decide what kind of trip suits both of you, compare dates, and work out how to travel to and from the vessel. Once those basics are clear, booking becomes much easier.

You do not need the same experience

You do not need to match each other in sailing knowledge or physical ability. If one of you is more confident and the other needs time to find their feet, that is perfectly acceptable. The crew are always keen to help everyone learn the ropes.

Cabins designed for friends sharing

Many vessels include cabin accommodation suitable for two people booking together. This could be bunk beds or twin berths. The berth description for each vessel explains exactly what is provided, and voyage details explain whether the price is per person or for the whole cabin.

Short trips are a practical first step

If you are new to traditional sailing, a short voyage is a good place to begin. A weekend or three-day trip gives you a realistic idea of life at sea, without needing to take much time off work or travel far. These shorter trips are also easier to plan between two people with busy schedules.

Short breaks

A range of voyage styles

Some trips follow the coast and include time ashore. Others may involve longer sea passages, open water, or sailing at night. If you are looking for a challenge, we can recommend suitable voyages. If you would prefer variety and time to explore ashore, a route with island stopovers or quiet anchorages might suit you better.

Make the plan together

Sailing is naturally an active and shared experience, so preparing together makes sense. Deciding what to pack, arranging travel, or simply arriving together can remove a lot of the uncertainty.

The Important first step

Once you are on board, you become part of the crew, but taking the first step together often makes the biggest difference.

Ample Sunshine voyages.

Winter sunshine voyages occur in the Canary Islands and voyages heading south.

In the Cape Verde and voyages heading southward.

There are many voyages in the Caribbean and northern South America

There are two vessels sailing in the Pacific but some of these head for cooler climates!.

Summer voyages in the Baltic are likely to be both sheltered and sunny.
